Tyler Reddick to Attempt Daytona 500

Richard Childress Racing (RCR) is looking for back-to-back Daytona 500 victories, after Austin Dillon won on a last-lap pass in 2018. And now they will add 2018 Xfinity Series Champion Tyler Reddick as he announced today that he will pilot the #31 Chevrolet for RCR in the 61st Daytona 500. Joining Dillon and Rookie of the Year contender Daniel Hemric, Reddick adds to RCR’s chances to win the Great American Race since he is no stranger to Victory Lane at Daytona. At the 2018 Xfinity season opener, Reddick nosed out ahead of then-teammate Elliott Sadler in what is known as the closest finish in NASCAR National Series history (0.0004 seconds).

Reddick has been preparing this offseason to transition over to the Richard Childress Racing Xfinity Series program after a championship season with JR Motorsports. In doing so, he has some shoes to fill by taking over Daytona 500 teammate Daniel Hemric’s ride. Though Hemric didn’t win a championship or a race during his 2 year stint in the Xfinity Series, he finished in the Top-5 over 33% of the time and ran for the championship at Homestead both years.

With Richard Childress Racing fielding cars for 2018 Daytona 500 Champion, rookie consistent contender Daniel Hemric, and now 2018 Xfinity Champion Tyler Reddick, RCR is sure to be a threat to win their 4th Daytona 500 and add to their prolific Daytona history.
